How our roof cleaning works

Every job begins with a look at the roof itself. Tile type, how much growth there is, which elevations are shaded and whether anything is damaged all shape the approach. From there the clean follows a clear order.

• Heavy moss scraped off by hand, protecting tiles, ridges and valleys
• Loose debris blown clear, including from blocked valleys
• Soft washing where the roof suits it, to lift algae and grime
• Gutters and downpipes emptied of everything that came off the roof
• Biocide applied where needed to kill spores and slow regrowth
• Before and after photos so you can see the finished roof

Why we won't pressure wash tiles

High-pressure jetting is quick, but it erodes the tile surface, pushes water under the laps and can crack weaker tiles. The roof may look clean for a while and then age faster. Our methods are slower, but they leave the roof in better condition than we found it.

What's covered under roof cleaning

Cleaning the tiles is the core, but a roof visit touches on more than that. Because we also offer roof repairs, gutter repairs and roof inspections, we can spot and explain problems while we're there: slipped or broken tiles, tired pointing, flashing that needs attention, or a gutter run that has lost its fall. You get honest advice and a separate quote for anything extra, with no pressure to go ahead.

What to expect on the day

You don't have to stay in while we work, though many customers like to see the before photos first. We'll need access around the house, so it helps to move cars away from the walls and let us know about side gates, conservatories or glass roofs below the work area. Moss and debris come down during the clean; we clear it up and leave paths, drives and lawns tidy.

Once the roof is finished we'll talk you through what we did, share the photos and mention anything we noticed that might need attention later. There's no hard sell: if the roof just needed a clean, that's all we'll say.
