Our roof repair work is aimed at the faults that let weather in on an otherwise sound roof. Those are the jobs where a prompt, targeted fix saves a far bigger bill later.

Signs a repair is due

From the ground, look for a tile sitting lower than its neighbours, a pale gap in a row, or chunks of mortar in the gutter or on the patio. Indoors, a brown ring on an upstairs ceiling or damp in the loft after rain is the classic warning.

Water rarely drips where it gets in. It can run along a batten or down a rafter before it shows, so the stain on the ceiling is a clue rather than an answer. That is why we look at the roof itself before suggesting anything.

Finding a leak properly

Leak investigation means tracing the route water is taking, not guessing. Common culprits are a displaced tile, a crack hidden under an overlap, flashing that has lifted away from brickwork, or a gutter overflowing back under the roof edge. Moss and debris can also hold water against the roof and push it where it shouldn't go.

Once we have found the source we explain it in plain terms, show you what we saw, and quote for the fix. If the real trouble is a blocked gutter or heavy moss rather than a broken part, we'll say so, because a repair on its own would not stop it coming back.

Honest advice on bigger problems

Not every roof should be patched forever. If we find widespread wear that a sensible repair won't solve, we tell you directly instead of selling a string of small visits. You decide what happens next with the full picture in front of you.

Equally, a roof that looks tired is often just dirty. Algae and moss make a sound roof look old, and a clean can be the better spend than a repair nobody needed.

Repair, clean or both?

Plenty of repair calls turn out to involve moss. A cushion of growth can lift a tile edge, hide a crack and block the path rainwater should take. Fixing the tile while leaving the moss means the same spot may give trouble again, so we'll mention it if a clean or hand scraping would protect the repair. You choose whether to add it.
